ORDA Ethiopia CBM Germany II project is working extensively in 3 woredas: Ebinat, West and East Belsa woredas to prevent trachoma and solve sanitation problems. The project benefited 180 thousand (F: 91,800) beneficiaries. Tigist Atikilit, aged 23 & lives in ZuHamusit rural town, East Belesa Woreda, is among beneficiaries. East Belesa is a drone prone area and shortage of safe water is critical. “We used to drink form open water source like ponds, and we were walking for 3 to 4 hours per a day for fetching water by donkey. Now our problem is solved. We are getting safe water. Getting clean water is getting free from waterborne debases,” Tigist said.

In the project intervention 3 woredas of West Belesa, East Belesa & Ebinat woreda, the project built 83 water schemes & 18 Model VIPL constructions at the institution level. In addition, trachoma patients screening for over 43 thousand beneficiaries, trachoma patients’ treatment by surgery for 4,593 beneficiaries and for trachoma patients’ treatment was given by anti-biotic for 12,539 beneficiaries.
