A project that offers new hope

Etenat Fetene is a 46-year-old resident of Kidus Nakutoleab Kebele in Lasta Woreda. She is the mother of 6 children and has been separated from her husband due to health problems. Now, she is raising 5 children as a single mom. When she talks about her life because she does not have enough land, 'I live by God's mercy.'

2022- Lasta Lalibela ORDA Ethiopia Emergency Relief Project has been working to benefit poor households like Etenat Fetene. The project provides food and non-food items for conflict victims in Lasta woreda, North Wollo zone. The project is funded birr 24.5 million from Glimmer of Hope Ethiopia and is working to support beneficiaries by providing shoats for rearing, crop seed, edible oil, and flour.

Mrs. Etenat is one of the beneficiaries. She has been provided three breeding ewes from the project. While expressing her feelings, she said that “by sowing0.25 hectares of land, evenly, I got only 30 kg of teff. I have no other source of income. The productive safety net program has also been cut off. The only hope was brought from this project.” She has planned to tackle poverty by expanding sheep rearing by providing the necessary fodder and care for the sheep.
