The Trachoma Elimination Project positive impacts

ORDA Ethiopia in collaboration with CBM International is carrying out safe water supply and construction of toilets to eliminate trachoma disease in Wareilu, Jama and Leghedi Woredas of South Wolo Zone, Amhara Regional State. Efforts are being made to increase the public's access to clean drinking water by enhancing water sources, strengthening existing water wells with the help of solar energy. 8 water distribution points have been constructed in Jama woreda by laying a rural pipe system (RPS) which is solar powered, with a storage tank and a water distribution tank. Also, in Leghida woreda, 4 water distribution points have been constructed from the existing source of clean water and served the community.

To maintain the hygiene of students and prevent trachoma in schools, gender-specific two-block odorless toilets have been constructed and are being completed in three schools.
