In the past, long queues and long distances to get safe drinking water were part of Mrs. Wude Berhan's daily routine. Her families were particularly vulnerable to a variety of water-borne diseases caused by poor sanitation.

Wude Birhan is a resident of Cherkos village, Arga Kebele, Guna Begemder woreda. She is 40 years old and has 5 children. She supports her husband by farming. Although they are having a happy marriage, their water supply is still affecting the health and well-being of their families. They were particularly vulnerable to waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, ameba, and stomach ache.
