The construction of the Fendika Deep Well Water Project, which will benefit 9,000 people, is nearing completion.

 ORDA Ethiopia Higher Officials Visited John’s Rig Wash Project work activities.

ORDA Ethiopia's John’s Rig Wash Project, funded by Welthungerhilfe through VIVA CON AGUA, works on potable water supply, hygiene, and sanitation (WaSH) activities to be carried out in 5 woredas (Gozamen, Sinan, Aneded, Debre-Elias & Machakel districts of East Gojjam Zone) and benefits 205 thousand beneficiaries by delivering safe water schemes and 280 thousand beneficiaries by keeping their hygiene and sanitation with an allocated budget of over €8.8 million. ORDA Ethiopia Higher Officials Visited the project work activities, and Fenedika deep well water project was one of being visited.

The construction of the Fendika deep well water project will benefit 9,000 residents of Fendika Rural Town, Gozamen woreda. It has a total of 9 common water stations and 7 single water taps. Its Construction is 85 percent complete.

During the visit, Gobatakina Deep Well Water Project that is found in machakel weoreda, East Gojjam Zone, which was previously built and is in service, was visited. During the visit, ORDA Ethiopia's Executive Director, Alemayehu Wasse (Ph.D), said that after building water facilities and handing them over to the community, there were times when the facilities become out of service due to lack of care; but now they are happy that Gobatakina deep well water facilities are still functioning well.

Generally, ORDA Ethiopia's John’s Rig Wash Project built 65 shallow borehole constructions, 10 deep well construction, 4 spring developments, 19 water scheme maintenance, 28 ventilated pit latrines in 14 community schools, 56 model household pit latrines, and has improved safe drinking water coverage and environmental hygiene & sanitation in those interventions areas.
