A project has been carried out in enhancing youths wage employability capacity and self-employment opportunities in Jamma woreda of South Wollo zone
The project is being implemented in two kebeles in Jamma worda, South Wollo zone of Amhara region from September 2022 to August 2024 with financial support from Gafat Endowment and ORDA Ethiopia.
The main objective of the project is to reduce youth unemployment and informal migration in two kebeles of Jamma worda.
According to the project plan, 210 youths (50% female) are ready for work, and 120 youths have been trained as 'be your own boss'. In addition to this, 67 (F፡ 34) youths are engaged in their own work. About 46 youths who have received training are engaged in their own/private/enterprise work.
Also, 31 youths (F: 13) who prepared a work plan and whose feasibility was evaluated and approved were provided with a settlement loan of a total of 1.8 million Birr. The youths are engaged in cattle fattening and sheep breeding, cafe and shop activities and they have benefited.
Finally, 24 youths (F: 9) got job opportunities in various government and non-government institutions and earned 79 thousand Birr.
