Strengthening PSNP Institutions and Resilience II (SPIR II)/ Resilience Food Security Activity (RFSA) project Year I Annual Performance & Year II Annual Plan Review Meeting conducted.

ORDA Ethiopia has been implementing strengthening of institutions and resilience building of the community through Resilence Food Security Activity (RFSA) project for the last 1 year. Resilence Food Security Activity (RFSA) project is being implemented by World Vision Ethiopia, CARE Ethiopia, & ORDA Ethiopia with a total allocated budget cost of USD 91,590,337 million which is kindly donated by the Government and the People of America through USAID. The project is aimed at enhancing livelihoods, increasing resilience to shocks, and improves food security and nutrition for rural households vulnerable to food insecurity. The Project is implemented in nine woredas of the Amhara region known as Meket, Wadla, Gazo, Lasta, Bugna, Dahina, Sekota, Tsagibiji, and Gazgibla woredas.

The project runs from September 2021 to June 2026, and it has achieved livelihood improvement in rural households for the last one year by engaging in activities like VESA engagement, livelihood improvement- poultry, shoat fattening, potable water schemes & irrigation infrastructure construction etc.

The project workshop was conducted from 4 – 5 February 2023 in Lalibela town. As stated in the workshop, by 2022, the project has implemented encouraging activities that will improve the lives of the beneficiaries. For example, 177 village economic and social savings groups with 4,261 members (F: 2,439) were established and 115,460 birr regular savings and more than 16,000 birr were saved for social issues. 3 thousand 14 quintals of wheat seeds, 524 quintals of potato seeds and 84 quintals of teff seeds were distributed to the war-affected beneficiaries. 2 thousand 25 (F: 467) beneficiaries engaged in sheep fattening and earned extra income. Also, maintenance of 27 water facilities, 5 vet clinics and 5 schools and construction of one new school block was done. 18 thousand 567 metric tons of food commodity has been supported for beneficiaris.

Ato Tsehaye Asmare, Deputy Executive Director of ORDA Ethiopia, said on his opening remark at the workshop that all should work hard to compensate the beneficiaries for the economic and social crisis that has been faced due to the war. He also said that everyone should work hard to complete the remaining developmental works within the planned budget and time in the coming months. In the workshop, ORDA Ethiopia program directors, project managers and experts participated.
