"Board of Directors’ to support integrated development endeavors of ORDA Ethiopia" Honorable Dr. Yilkal Kefale

ORDA Ethiopia is an Ethiopian-operated, Non-Governmental Organization (non-profit) that focuses primarily on forest, environment, agriculture, nutrition, water and irrigation development programs as a key step in the strategy to end chronic poverty and food shortages in Ethiopia.

The organization significantly plays a great role in strengthening forestry development, provision of agricultural technologies that increase productivity, provision of safe drinking water, enhancement of personal and environmental hygiene and trachoma prevention, development of small-scale irrigation systems, nutrition improvement and prevention of stunting. It also works on gender, persons with disability and youth to get them engaged in the economy.

Since its inception in 1984, it has been involved in major humanitarian and development projects and contributed a lot by filling the people and government development gaps.

Honorable Dr. Yilkal Kefale, President of the Amhara region and Chairman of Board of ORDA Ethiopia, states ORDA Ethiopia is currently working to change the lives of our people living in abject poverty with the resources it receives from donors.

The Board of Directors discussed the 2021 Performance Report and the 2022 Plan in Bahir Dar on 27 March 2022.

Honorable Dr. Yilkal says ORDA Ethiopia Ethiopia is striving in Forestry, Environmental Development and Climate Change, Safe Water Supply, Sanitation, Irrigation Development, Trachoma Prevention, Agriculture, Nutrition and Disaster Risk, Gender, Disability Inclusion and Youth Employment programs.

The Chairperson of the Board, Honorable Dr. Yilkal, reminds to focus on sustainable development and rehabilitation activities that bring change of the lives of the people. Honorable Dr. Yilkal Kefale also said that the Board continues to support integrated development endeavors of ORDA Ethiopia.

ORDA Ethiopia’s Executive Director Dr. Alemayehu Wassie, on his part said the organization is working to change the lives of more than 1 million people by implementing 33 integrated projects with over 1.6 billion birr including food aid, in five major development programs.

According to Dr. Alemayehu, the organization has been collecting resources from international donors to rescue the displaced people within and out of the region due to the war and human-made & natural disasters.

The Executive Director claims ORDA Ethiopia has been assisting in kind like shoat, oxen and fruit and vegetable seeds to farmers who lost their livestock resources caused by the war.
