Bahir Dar, Ethiopia - Alemayehu Wassie (Ph.D.), Executive Director of ORDA Ethiopia, has sent a heartfelt message to funding partners and donors, expressing gratitude for their strong support of vulnerable communities. He also highlighted the inefficiencies in the current aid delivery system due to multiple intermediaries.

As a local partner and implementer we know our country and our people very well. We know the mountain, we know the valley and the plain, we know the water sources, we know the land race, we know the soil type, and we know the climate. We also know the culture, the norms, the taboos and the dialects. We know the pain, the gaps, and the problems not only because we are experts but because we are part of the community, because we are from the community.

We do also know the solutions, the way outs with proven commitment and capabilities. Therefore the time has come we should straighten the twisted road between the donors and the local actors. It is time to do things efficiently and directly to the people we all care. It is the time of trust and partnership with locals, what we call practical localization.

ORDA Ethiopia continues to advocate for better aid delivery methods to enhance their impact on the ground.
