The Organization for Rehabilitation and Development in Amhara (ORDA) with 8.9 million Birr fund secured from David and Lucile Packard Foundation put Emergency Response to COVID-19 Crisis in North Gondar & Gondar City Administration in action.

A slowdown in the hotel and tourism, construction and other sectors of the economy due to COVID-19 pandemic caused many people for unemployment and put them in crisis. To solve the problem temporarily, ORDA has designed an emergency project which worths 8.9 million birr secured from the David and Lucile Foundation. The project targets to benefit a total of 7,095 people on a temporary basis in Gondar city, Beyeda and Janamora woredas. 80 percent of the beneficiaries of the emergency assistance are women, which mainly makes them less vulnerable to hunger by covering their food shortages and protects them from asset depletion (selling of properties). The emergency project gives due attention to provide temporary food assistance including food oil to people living with HIV/AIDS, diabetes patients, people with disability and the elderly.
