            The project changed my livelihood” – Temare Worku

ORDA’s Improving Youth Employment through soft skill training and other supports project, which has an aim to create a job for jobless youth, was launched in July 2018 in Ebinat woreda, South Gondar Zone with a total budget of 5,245,696 secured from Gafat Endowment Enterprise (95% of its budget).

Temare worku, aged 23, is among beneficiaries who live in Ebinat town. Temare was recruited by the project for he was jobless, and he got an entrepreneurship & business management training. Then, he took loan of Birr 49 thousand from the project and bought a pool playing. He earns an average of Birr 5,500 per month from pool playing service. In addition, he was engaged in garlic cultivation through irrigation. For that purpose, he bought a pumping generator for irrigation. He earned Birr 35 thousand from garlic production. He is also engaged in construction stone production.

“The project helped me change my life in many ways. Previously, I had no money to buy pumping generator & a pool playing. Even, I did not have any money to pay Birr 1000 for a license of stone production”; Temare said.

Temare earns better income, and he paid back his first term loan principal Birr 19 thousand. The training that the project offered assisted him as a spring board to be a successful businessman.

Currently, he has planned to cultivate 2 quintal garlic on rented 0.25 hectare land, and he is doing marketing assessment to buy another pool playing.
