ORDA Ethiopia has been implementing a three year landscape restoration using church forest Project in Este & Dera woredas of Amhara region with a budget secured from Cartier for Nature (CFN). The project has an objective to create a healthy environment and sustainable livelihoods by improving conservation and restoration of forest resources through forest relics by Ethiopia Orthodox church.

The project's 2022 performance review and 2023 plan familiarization was held on 14 March 2023 in Bahirdar city. Executive Director of ORDA Ethiopia, Alemayehu Wassie, said at the forum that the project's fund was obtained through great efforts and the community sense of ownership for its effectiveness is necessary. He also remarked that in order to overcome the problems of attitude encountered during the implementation of the project, the stakeholders should work together to find a solution. On the other hand, the Chief Administrator of South Gondar Zone, Ato Yirga Sisay, said that he is committed to to solve the problems encountered during the implementation of the project for the sake of community benefit. General Manager of South Gondar Diocese of Ethiopian Orthodox Church, ‘Leke-Siyuman’ Mihret Mola, said that he promised to cooperate with the project with a sense of responsibility.

In the last one year, the project planted a total of 461 thousand 594 seedlings on 198 her. of land and contributed a lot for the area's biodiversity restoration.
