ORDA Ethiopia's Resilenet livelihoods and sustainable ecosystem in the semien mountains national park project will be, implement in cooperation with CARE Ethiopia, benefit 150,700 residents in 3 woredas of North Gondar Zone of Amhara Region, namely Debarq, Janamora and BeYeda woredas, with 159.5 million Birr fund received from the Australian Development Cooperation (ADC). The project will run from December 2022 to October 2025 and will work to improve the lives of local residents and create a disaster-resilient community by conserving the Northern National Park and its surrounding biodiversity.

The familiarization workshop of the project was held in Debarak town. According to the workshop presentaion, 79 percent of the population of the North Gondar zone lives around the North National Park. As a result, most of the local residents' livelihoods are based on agricultural activities around the park and the natural resources available from the park. Thus, the project has set a goal to create a sustainable, environmentally friendly, geneder transformative and inclusive community development.

In the workshop, ANRS culture & Tourism Burea, ORDA Ethiopia, CARE Ethiopia, North National Park, HELVETAS, and concerened zonal and woreda level officials participated.
