"John's Rig WaSH Project Celebrates Successful Completion with Impactful Closing Ceremony"

The closing ceremony of ORDA Ethiopia John’s Rig WaSH Project, organized by WHH with financial support from John Rig and Viva Con Agua, took place on February 27, 2025, at Skylight Hotel. The project, which has been running for eight years in five woredas of East Gojjam, was celebrated for its successful implementation and positive impact on the community.

The event featured speeches from prominent guests, including WHH Regional Representative Mr. Yousaf Jogezai, German Deputy Ambassador, Viva Con Agua Water Sector Manager Christian Wiebe, Executive Director of ORDA Ethiopia Dr. Alemayehu Wassie, and State Minister of Water and Energy Ambassador Asefaw Digamo. All speakers praised the project for bringing significant changes to the community.

Representatives of the five woredas of East Gojjam, who benefited from the project, expressed their gratitude to John Rig and Viva Con Agua for funding the initiative and to ORDA Ethiopia for its effective execution.

Awards were given to the Amhara National Regional State Water and Energy Bureau, ORDA Ethiopia, and the project funders for their significant contributions. Dr. Alemayehu Wassie also presented a gift to Christian Wiebe of Viva Con Agua.

ORDA Ethiopia Deputy Executive Director for Programs, Ato Tsehaye Asemare, and German Agro Action Water Manager Ato Alemayehu Worku, presented the overall project performance to the audience. The results of the project's evaluation were shared by the consultant. A panel discussion with guests from various institutions focused on the water sector in Ethiopia.

The event concluded with remarks from Dr. Mamaru Ayalew, Head of the Water and Energy Bureau of the Amhara National Regional State, who thanked John Rig, Viva Con Agua, ORDA Ethiopia, and everyone who prepared the closing ceremony.
