Coordinated hands of ORDA & Government bodies are highly required to change the livelihoods of beneficiaries. 

ORDA conducted a launching workshop on 11th April 2019 in Debre Tabor town.to implement Inclusive Health, Economic and Social Development Program in Two woredas (Guna Begemidir & Andabet) of South Gondar Zone.


The program is planned to be implemented in 15 kebeles of the two woredas benefiting over 200 thousand people including women, children & people with disability with a total budget of 92.8 million Birr from 2019 to 2013.


86% of the budget (79.8 Million Birr or $ 3.99 Canadian) is secured from Hopes and Healing International (the former CBM Canada) while the rest will be covered by ORDA, RUSSACO, and the community.

The five years’ program mainly focuses on activities control trachoma which is the worst scenario in Amhara region. It also works on safe water supply, hygiene & sanitation activities and delivers improved agricultural technologies such as high value crops, fruits and vegetables, and livestock to boost production and productivity. Moreover, beneficiaries & jobless youths will get involved in a diversified income generating activities.

South Gondar Zone deputy Administrator & heads of sectoral offices, authorities of Guna Begemidir & Andabet woredas, and ORDA officers and heads took part in the workshop.

Eventually, South Gondar Zone Deputy Administrator Ato Awoke Zemene and Deputy Executive Director of ORDA Ato Dejene Minliku noted to own the program as a major duty & put it in practice at ground level to change the lives of the beneficiaries.
