Donors visited Amhara Region

Donors from US, Texas, Austin & Ethiopia ( Addis Ababa -Country Office) visited ORDA & ADA projects being implemented in Amhara Region of Ethiopia from 25 to 26 February 2019.

A glimmer of Hope & The Welland family are the strategic partner of the Organization for Rehabilitation & Development in Amhara (ORDA) for the last 14 years. They have been supporting the people of Amhara to alleviate challenges related to access to safe water and improved sanitation.

Since 2005, Glimmer contributed to ORDA for the construction of a total of 1,724 water schemes. ORDA handed over 1,236 Hand Dug Wells (HDW), 406 Spring Development (SPD), 80 Shallow Borehole, and 2 Boreholes to the community for WaSH sector and benefited more than 615 thousand people. The functionality rate is also higher than the national standard (78%).

Currently, the new Integrated Community Development (ICD) is put into practice at Libo Kemkem Woreda which basically targets both livelihood improvement & WaSH components.

Mrs. Donna Berber, the founder of A glimmer of Hope, a nonprofit oriented charity organization & the welland family (Dave Welland) are truly genuine partners to the people of Amhara through ORDA & Amhara Development Association (ADA).   

Mrs. Donna is honestly mother of millions of the poor people that she is supporting to curve the lives of people living under worse situations. She has been striving hard to improve the people’s living status for more than 14 years. For their unrestricted support of the people of Amhara, the regional government offered her & funding families a certificate of recognition & ORDA presented her & family of Glimmer a crystal award in recognition for a genuine partnership to the people of Amhara through ORDA.

Educational services in Amhara region of Ethiopia in terms of availability and accessibility is among the poorest. However, Glimmer has built & put its share for the access of standard primary & secondary schools.
