Bench terracing effectiveness was assured when it brought magnificent result in Rwanda. The task was led by an Ethiopian scholar, Dr. Azene Bekele. One nearest colleague testimony about him said one can guess the result he has achieved while see he scoop up the animals dug to demonstrate compost preparation. He was changed Rwandan Agriculture via his Bench terracing project, and now it is being applied in Amahara region. Ebinat eworeda, womberoch kebele is one of which its farmers productivity has been increasing due to bench terracing. Wheat productivity has grown from 13.2 quintal to 23.5 quintal per hectare, Teff from 13.2 to 15.3 & potato from 70 to 187.5 quintal per hectare.

Bench Terracing changes a hilly land to fertile land. The sand and soil is separated, and while the sand is used for terracing, the fertile soil restored back to the surface. Then natural compost and forest soil is brought & added, and this theory was supported via ORDA’s IFNS Project in Ebinat woreda, Womberoch woftoma kebele , Ayer water shade & East Belesa woreda Kalayi sholit water shade.
