Bahir Dar Urban Sanitation Project to start in 2013

Mrs. Ursula Langkamp, Country Director for Welthungerhilfe in Ethiopia, announced in the interview held recently that the Organization for Rehabilitation and Development in Amhara /ORDA/ will start to implement  Urban Sanitation Project in Bahir Darin January, 2013. urban sanitation2         

The Country Director stressed that ORDA and Welthungerhilfe are always taking up very innovative approaches as practiced in the MDG WaSH and the Biodiversity projects. She also unveiled that the long lasting partnership is now going up for Urban Sanitation, which is new for both of them.

Mrs. Langkamp also mentioned a lesson that partners of ORDA and Welthungerhilfe can learn from them: “With ORDA we never got stuck; there is always progress and development. This is the most important aspect of our partnership.”

The Country Director also made clear how both partnership relations is: “We fully have to rely on each other’s capacity and responsibility; reliability is ORDA’s strength. We are very satisfied with the cooperation.”

The project will be implemented with the budget estimated over 3.3 million Euro funded from the Welthungerhilfe, the European Community and the Ethiopian Government, which will have over 100,000 beneficiaries, she revealed.

Having started their partnership 20 years ago in emergency and rehabilitation projects, ORDA and Welthungerhilfe are accomplishing development projects focusing on food security and WASH, she noted.
