Water quality and latrine technology option training offered

Organization for Rehabilitation and Development in Amhara (ORDA), a pioneer developmental partner of the region is a non-profit making& Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). ORDA in collaboration with the regional government is carrying out projects to provide potable water, hygiene and sanitation for the poor throughout the region.

For the past 3 decades, ORDA has registered remarkable results in water resource development programs. Over 4,760 safe water supply schemes have been constructed and more than 1.8 million people benefited from them. For this reason, ORDA contributes 14 to 16% of the regional clean and safe drinking water.

ORDA constructed 183 small scale irrigation schemes which can potentially harvest 12,017 hectares of land benefiting for 67,957 households in the region.

To strengthen the supply of clean and safe water, water quality and latrine technology option training was offered to staffs of WRDP from 16 - 17 February 2015 at ORDA (HQ) Bahir Dar.
Trainees asserted that the training was vital in order to build their capacity. The training was given by Dr. Marco Andreolli, a Microbiology instructor and researcher at Verona University. 
Ato Wubante Yalew, coordinator of CBM at ORDA, claimed the training was organized by CBM Italy in collaboration with Verona University.

It’s to be noted that with its hygiene and sanitation fruitful achievements, ORDA was awarded nationally in 2009.
