Mebela watershed- Adis Midir

ORDA puts its impact with regard to rehabilitation of extremely degraded areas where flooding caused many residents to migrate in other places. Farmers of Mebela watershed in Lay Gayint district Titira 04 kebele renamed it "Adis Midir" which means a new land. The intervention of IFAD Guna of ORDA encourages farmers to carryout natural resource development works in harmony around watersheds. Adis Midir which encompasses 1 & 1/2 hectares of land is covered with animal feed (oat, vetch, elephant grass). Hence, ORDA remarkably saved dwellers from migration, they have got experiences to implement physical soil and water structures, biological activities and income generation activities. Now 25 members of which 6 women owns the land to manage. The project has also delivered those young men and women hives to apiculture as income generation activity. You would be amazed with its rehabilitation over a single year.
