The project is striving to improving farmers' income!

ORDA Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP) has been implementing since 2018 in 9 kebeles of Libo Kemkem woreda with a total budget of Birr 83 Million secured from #Glimmer of Hope. It benefita one thousand 79 farmers by engaging them in cattle and shoat fattening & rearing, poultry, onion & garlic production.

Farmer Tsegaye Dires, aged 45 & father of 5 children is one of the beneficiaries. His income earned from one hectare of farm land could not afford his family's consumption. So, he has been striving to diversify his income after he had got training on income generating activities like poultry. First he took 7 thousand Birr loan & bought 25 egg laying hens with a cost of 4 thousand birr. The remaining 3 thousand birr was used for buying feed.

“The project offered me training by considering the commitment I show to defeat poverty. Now, I look after the chicken by providing safe food and all other safety measures. I will have better income from egg sale far beyond my family's food consumption,” he said.
